    1322 Barrel on 2240

I really want to keep my 2240 since I like how the HPA turned out. It's still punching way above 5.1 Joules so I'm gonna try reducing the barrel length. First I was simply going to put the original barrel back on the 2240, but then I figured that I might as well put the 1322 barrel on the 2240, and put the 24 inch barrel on the 1322. Since it addded 100 fps in the first place, I figure I can reduce it by at least 60fps with the 1322 barrel. 5 joules is enough for any pest. (Except for me, I'm gonna need about 50. LOL) Anyways, wanted to know if anyone could shed some light on what tops a detuned 1322 to about 10 pumps? Does it? Doesn't it? Does it just damage the ****** if pump it past 10? I find six is good ebough for me to plink with.

    Thanks

Nothing is damaged going past 10 pumps, but it will get harder to pump and at some point the valve will retain air (i.e. you will hit a power maximum). The only way to stay on the "safe" side of the law (i.e. license and permit) is to cut the hammer spring until 10 pumps keeps you below 500fps (it would appear to be unreasonable for anyone testing the gun to pump it beyond the manufacturer's recommendation).
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

Thanks for clarifying that AirGunEric. Like I said I don't go past six pumps as it gives me a good 420 with a 14 gr. I figured staying below 10 would keep the gun "healthier". One thing though, now that I want to change the barrel and the breech and what not, I can't for the life of me get the pump pin out! I mean I'm hitting the thing, but I don't want to smash it. It doesn't seem to be moving a micrometer! Am I missing something here? YouTube makes it look very easy. Guess I just have the worst luck.

    Thanks

For a start, open the pump handle to take the load off the pivot pin.... Then a 3/16" pin punch should drift it out no problem....

Check. I was keeping the handle closed for most of the "banging" in an attempt to prevent damage. Also I was using a 5/32 I think. Thanks! Got the 24 inch barrel on though. Just drilled the original barrel band to allow the 7/16 to slide through and added an Extended Bolt Probe. I'll see what that does tomorrow. If those mods even up it 50 fps, then that would be enough. 1322 is awesome!

    Thanks.

So just for the record, 2240 with 10 inch barrel (from 1322) and 850 psi (tank on its last 1000) psi was pushing a consistent 417 fps.

So with a 24" barrel on the 1322 I'm getting exactly what 10 pumps would push, but with only 6 pumps. Exactly.
