    Home built budget swing/spinners

Made this swing/spinner target from junk for less than 7.00 inc tax.
The targets are quite thick, so although they can swing, they will only flip a bit without high fpe.

The targets were scrounged from the base of a floor lamp. The pipe sections are cut from co2 cartridges. The rod and nuts I bought at TSC, 20% off right now.

I like it too. Seems to work quite well and it will never get shot out unless the rod got hit with something like a 30-06.

I can't offer a photo, but will ring in with another option too.
I got to shooting old skillsaw blades as reactive targets, just hung them on some old copper electrical wire somewhere safe for lead splatter and rang the bell.
Ricochets have not happened as the blades suck up or deform energy of pellet.

Also a more musical version of this is the backing plate from a speaker - the bit with the tube that runs through the center on the back of the magnet - drift from the front will break glue.
Typically they have a mounting screw in them, so allow for center hanging as well, and have some pot metal weight to them.
Depending on the size of speaker sourced from, they have a range of "Ding" sounds easily heard out to 100yards (.22 anyway).

    Reactive targets rock for feedback.
    Thanks for posting this idea.

I made up a 50 yard plinking range behind the house with targets every 10 yards to check the trajectory of any given pellet and made up a modest little spinner for each target - 3/8" @ 10 yards up to 1-1/4" @ 50 yards.

    Backyard range:

    40 yard spinner (7/8"):

I started doing 100 yard shots for fun and (growing up on a farm) found that a small to medium size cow bell hung from a branch makes for a great reactive target at longer distances. No problem wondering if you hit your mark or not - "ding-a-ling-a-ling"!!!...
