I drilled and reamed solid 1144 stock. I find this much easier than dealing with snarly DOM stock. It was actually fairly painless.

As far as the weaver base goes I needed complete compatibility with existing QB stuff. That includes the nifty FWB 300 clone rear sight which fits on 11mm dovetail. And the option is always there to use one of the adapters that slide onto the dovetail.

Besides I'm an Anschutz guy...weaver bases are the stuff of HEATHENS
