    Beware Pot-metal Fosters!

On the GTA, a member just posted this photo of a male Foster fitting which blew apart, causing some loss of hearing, bruising, and minor cuts to arms and legs....

It was purchased on eBay, source unknown, and although it looks like steel, it is not magnetic and he thinks it is made from Pot Metal.... Buyer Beware....

Besides the magnet test, what do we look for? Is there some sort of ANSI type rating for these fittings? Stainless a good option?

Damn......he's lucky he wasn't hurt more than what he is, or anyone else around him for that matter. Could have been A much worse OUTCOME...

While no one ever, EVER likes to hear of incidents like this (much less be the victim), it serves as a reminder to the fine line we ride between having fun and literally holding a ticking time-bomb when using HPA.

I have no idea what you are talking about, FRANK.... I made this post on 4 Forums, and it says "male Foster" on all of them.... I haven't edited anything....

It "looks" like brass because of poor lighting in that photo.... There are more photos in the original post on the GTA.... http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/...?topic=45252.0
