    Cooked Computer Again

Dang! The old machine is acting out, again. Think it might be the power supply this time.
I can't for the life of me get this machine to hook into the service provider's e-mail, which I prefer over the free-mails out there- it's a lot more secure, and I'm paying for it anyways.

E-mail notifications aren't gonna work for me, until I get something sorted out....

Just had another hard drive die on me again. That's two in less than a month. Wasn't expecting much from the XS-Cargo machine, but it's still a bit of a damper.

In the market for a new computer.

All I want to do is browse sites like this, and store a few photo's.

Anyone reccommend a good machine at reasonable cost?

I'd like to go with new...

    This tiny lap top keyboard-argghh!

You consider a proper "refurbished" name-brand unit from the likes of a Future Shop or Bestbuy? Most of their refurbs seem to be only available through their website. I've bought a couple of these over the last few years without issues.

I got about 15 hrs out of that refurb from XS-Cargo. I think I'd better go new this time. That old Athlon I was on lasted 12 years.

    Lookin seriously at this one:

The problem with this is~ it's gonna set back my next a/g projects order by quite a bit. Sigh. At least I have the 20-78 to keep me occupied!

you are going thru a lot of PC equipment....there may be another issue.

Is your power "clean"? do you have a GOOD power bar/surge protector in use?

Spike bar's fine~ it has 2 breakers, and neither tripped. I say old age for the athlon, and a used seagate drive in the re-furb. Nothing else cooked on the same line~ LCD t.v. and phone modem...

I'm beginning to want that new H.P. :P

I should be o.k. for a while now. New spike bar, just in case- cheep insurance.

This thing is lightning fast! Takes a little getting used to

Lots of bells and whistles. Don't see no clouds here. Guess longhorn was kinda short-lived.

It's been 4 days now. Win 8 is different on the front user interface. They've tried to integrate to make a desktop compatible with cell phones, and tablet computers.
I haven't had any problems yet. One of the first things I did was download my Opera browser- so there really isn't that much to familiarize myself with.

Some things are still the same- a lot of the m/s functions won't "talk to" opera. Not a big deal though.

Internet Explorer 10 is the fastest version I've seen yet. It still won't hold a candle to the turbo switch on opera, though.

I'm hoping this system recognizes my 2 yr old Canon Powershot...
