Another story told by chrony Hatsan AT44 10/22

Decided to Chrony the Hatsan AT44 10/22 since I tuned it without one. My discovery was surprising to me, only because of how accurate it was. Turns out I was wasting air with no idea as it was nice and crisp sounding and very powerful, accurate to boot. Each string starts at 3000psi fill and ends at 10 shots. As well, each string had the hammer preload turned down one full turn including the first one. JSB Heavy 18 gr.

    899.0 ---906.3 ---914.1 ---915.0
    895.0 ---895.9 ---908.7 ---909.9

String 1 used 600psi, 2-500psi, 3-450psi, 4-400psi, and I see the lower part of the strings starting to rise which tells me I still have too much hammer. Woulda never guessed!

You're getting closer, but over 10 shots you still have a ways to go as you should be able to double that....

I continued to shot 20 on string 4 after checking air usage. Ended at 860.4fps and consumed a total of 800psi for 20 shots.

This is embarrasing, 4 full turns in and the beginning shot hasn't changed. 50 full turns wont change it either I am sure. My extended allen wrench is turning inside the rod its inserted in. Oh my I thought something was fishy...lol.

The adjuster on those Hatsans is hard to turn, eh?....

I did have it out once upon a time, but blue loctite was stronger than my fabricated tool

I drilled the adjusting screw and put a piece of Delrin rod into it, flush with the peaks of the threads.... When threaded in, it jams and prevents it from self-adjusting.... but can still be turned with an allen key....

so, according to the strings it must have moved a little bit. Today I will fix the tool, but may be a lil damp for tests.

Took the Hatsan apart, glad I did the adjuster screw was next to welded in place. Did the delrin job to it after the threads were cleaned up. Too damp to chrony today so far.

Did a string today after freeing the adjustment screw. Turned the screw out 3 turns out from full in, 3000psi fill start, 2200psi finish. 18gr jsb.

Seemed to have lost some fps from the previous strings, and not sure if my readings are accurate after getting ERR2's. It was a dark day foggy. I wonder what would happen if the valve stem was taken down to .100 diameter(currently .117) and the seat opened up a lilttle, then reduced the TP from 4.3mm to 3.5mm or a little larger?
