Free 'mod' for Baikal IZH-53M owners

This is not a mod, but a technique that was passed on to me from yanico on another forum. He got it from a Russian forum he was browsing. This technique really changes the trigger feel & operation on the IZH-53M.

First, crack open the barrel. While the barrel is open pull the trigger (nothing will happen). Then load the pellet, close the barrel and test out the new feel of the trigger. It is like a 2 stage trigger now and it works good and helps with accuracy.

Now, go give it a try and see what you think. After all, doesn't cost a thing!

? What is the reasoning/science behind this? (It seems nonsensical at first glance, pulling the trigger when cocked or not cocked, barrel open or closed, shouldn't change anything)
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

I'm imagining that the operation takes up the travel on the sear until it comes up against the beartrap. and is then held there by the force of the the piston spring

Then when you close the barrel your left with blade spring weight "first stage" and immediate sear break "second stage"

As long as everyone understands your probably left with a hairy a$$ trigger...I wouldn't proceed to go hunting with the trigger in that condition.

Actually, the trigger is more "hairy a** sensitive" when you use it normally. Doing it this other way, you can feel 'something' click in, and it becomes more of a 2 stage trigger. Don't ask me, just going by what I feel. Try it yourselves.

So if I try this and don`t like the result, how do I get it back to normal?

This does not physically change anything in the pistol. If you don't like the result, just don't do the trigger thing and all will be like it was.
