Trying to make a new nut for the muzzle end of my Mark 1, but can't get a positive ID on the thread. Closest I have is 3/8th @ 24tpi. goes in about 4 turns then locks.
Where am I going wrong here?
Cheers everyone,

I have one of my MK I's apart at the moment, so I checked the threads for ya and they are indeed 3/8 x 24 (at least mine was).
Do you mean you're threading the die onto the barrel (for a "trial" fit), or that you've already made the nut and the nut only goes on 4 turns? If it's the former, perhaps the threads on your barrel are damaged a bit - i.e bent, knicked, or slightly crushed (flat-spotted)? Chunk of dirt/debris in the threads?goes in about 4 turns then locks
I checked my barrel with a gauge first, then threaded die onto it. Mine got a little snug after 4 -5 turns, but certainly not to the point it wouldn't go any further, and once it got past that point (1/4 - 1/2 turn) it was perfect. No die holder for extra leverage either- just the barrel in one hand, 3/8 die in the other...turns out it was just some crud in the threads
