Because HE WAS ARMED. Whether or not the gun was real is irrelevant.....those Officers had to make sure the threat was decisively eliminated.

    Yeah, he sounded great!
Walk into a classroom....coldcock a kid in the face, and then brandish a firearm at the Police inside of a school.

    Play stupid games......win stupid prizes.

I hate to sound callous, but I have no sympathy for the kid, and hope the Officers involved don't let this ruin their personal psyche(s) for what was a justified use of force.

    Sad.

I agree with you 110%, Hammer. As far as I'm concerned, the kid got what he deserved. One less idiot in the world.

The first thing I thought was, Great! More fodder for the 'replica' gun classification. As in- "Well, if it was only a pellet gun, why did/does it have to look like a real handgun?"

The way the laws regarding firearms (AG's included) are getting tighter and tighter, especially handguns, I'm just waiting for the day when the only air powered handgun (non-pal) you will be able to purchase will be some neon green/yellow, 'Nerf' looking thing with the purdy orange cap on the muzzle (just so everyone knows it's not a real PB handgun), or get an R-Pal. Not really fond of either option...

Jaime was 15 years old! Certainly we would wish for different outcomes in the future, wouldn't we?

    For sure.
I'm not happy to see 15 yr olds (or any age for that matter) getting shot/killed by cops, but if this is his mentality and how he acts at 15, with a 'harmless' pellet gun, what would he do when he's 25? Next time could be a 12 gauge.

If he had of just punched the kid (hell, hit him repeatedly until the teachers pulled him off), and left it at that, then he would be still here today. But bringing a gun of any kind to school to settle things up, and refusing to lower it when instructed to (repeatedly)? The outcome doesn't surprise me at all. Sad, yes. Surprising, no.

Like Hammer said, it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest of us.

    I know...and I'm not fond of it.

And IMO...the massive expansion of airsoft, (where the guns look as real as PB's...break down the same way...etc), is fueling the demise.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's really cool that I could get an M4 airsoft rifle....or a 1911 BB gun.....but I'm going to use it responsibly.....and I'm a dude in his 30's that's not gonna tuck it in to the back of my sweatpants....

But the bad apples are going to spoil the whole damn bunch.
