Wanting to rebuild a Benjamin stem. Have done lots of crosman but these seem a bit different. I dug the old seal out but now see a thin steel disc that is restricting the hat from coming off. Anyone want to share the secret?

If you are talking the poppet in a Discovery, they are an "overmoulded" design and cannot be rebuilt....

It may not be worth the effort- a complete re-seal kit with a new valvestem for a Discovery/Maximus or a Marauder/Armada can be had fairly economically:
