    Ongoing stock project

    Hello Folks

I thought I would post an update on a stock project I have been working on since last winter. It had to be put on hold over the summer months because my inconsiderate employers actually make Homie work during the summer

All the power shaping is done so the next step is to inlay the countersunk screw buttons and the jam screws for the adjustable cheek rest.

    Then hand shaping....misery

That is quite the deluxe unit!

How many hours are into it so far? No- not trying to pull your chain and have you lose some hair- but such a project has got to take a significant amount of effort I would think.
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

WOW! That's gonna look sweet when you're done! IIRC, it was your thread/post I read a while ago on AirGunHome about doing a stock(starting stages). Same one? I always wondered what became of it. Regardless, excellant job!

Eric I would guestimate there is about 50 to 60 hours into it.
Surprisingly the shaping goes really quickly. I use a flap disc on an angle grinder, two different power carving rasps on a dremmel and three drum sanders on the dremmel. I would guess less than ten hours of shaping.

The inletting and fastners are the real time killer.

Yup thats it. Things should progress again now that the winter is here and I have some stability.

Sean that stock is coming along very nicely! Keep the photos coming as I, and I'm sure other members, are really excited to see how it is coming with each step.

For screw cups I like to use spent brass that I scrounge at the range. Pistol brass that is - rifle brass is too tapered to fit cleanly in a counterbore.screw.jpg
