    Pellet doping

    Maurice.
Lets talk airguns.I recently googled napier pro hunter pellets. They lube there pellets. The lube they use increases speed due to the fact that it is gassing off.

I call this pellet doping.I've experimented with this for 2years.Amazing results without any problems.

Soory if you play with this and have no PAL and you get caught by the law YU ARE IN DEEP CRAP.

Anyone else play with this concept.

Do you have any idea what lube they use? This idea intrigues me a lot.

I'm not following this idea of "gassing off"?

People seem to have found that on some (not all it seems) airguns, pellet lube can help seal the pellet in the bore a bit better- i.e. less gas blow-by around the pellet. Is this what the term 'gassing off' is implying?
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

    Eric no to the qestion.
Gassing off is the production of 2 seperate gases from certain oils, one being creanolein gas the other proethelein. Both are byproducts of the process of polymerization in the process of plastic production.
The heat genarated buy spring or gas ram airguns precipitates this process.

I think the OP might be refering to combustion as "gassing off"

I did follow a thread a couple years ago on another forum where a guy was treating pellets with all sorts of combustible lubricants and cleaners to find out what would happen. The upshot of all his tests is that the combustion of the products did increase the velocity however it was never consistent. The velocity bounced around like a yo yo even from something as small as dipping the skirt in WD40 and shaking off all the excess.

He concluded it was a waste of time.

At this time and experimentation only 20 fps max variation.method of application is crucial.

Can you post some information/testing on this? It sounds interesting.

    So...
    you're intentionally dieseling...
With the potential to get your fuel into your compression chamber and risk damage to the piston seal...

Um... this is a good idea why?
