Yup I'm ex forces
Basic is nothing like it was when I went through. There is no more yelling and screaming. no more physical or verbal abuse....They even get to keep and use their cell phones

Good for her, not so good for you unless you want to go to BC or NS !
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...
where ever i don't mind as long as i'm in a ruaal place
Congrats to her!
When you have a rural place you can invite us for a shoot!
Do you think she could borrow the St-Bruno shooting range? Now THAT would be an awesome place to host a shoot LOL
Congratulations to both of you!
Tell her to JUST PLAY THE GAME.
You won't see much of her for the next couple years, but a career in the Forces can be a rewarding one indeed.
The worst for her will be the BMQ, (basic Military qualification) phase.
She, (as well as her comrades), will be given impossible tasks, asked unanswerable questions, and get generally just plain ol' dicked around.
(This one time at band camp)....One day I'll always remember is getting woken up @0530, than having to shower, shave, eat, and prepare the room for inspection all in the dark. (The course staff informed us there had been a power outage).
Then, magically, at the very moment the MCpl darkened our already dark doorway for room inspection, the power came back on.......it's amazing how many hairs you miss shaving in the dark, and how many dust bunnies you can miss sweeping in the dark.
New troops get messed with mercilessly, as BMQ is supposed to be a stressful experience that either prepares you for your upcoming career, or makes you realize it's not for you.
Just make sure to tell her it WILL BE OVER eventually, and nothing sucks nearly as bad as BMQ.
Best of luck to her!
