I finally got some time to get the barrel finished up and installed on the rifle for some testing.

First thing I noticed when I chambered a pellet was the throat lead was too tight and would need a bit more work with the reamer.
Here is the rifle with the first 5 shot group, Meisterkugelns at 10m. Not too bad for the first 5 shots through a new barrel but something is obviously not up to snuff

I took the barrel off again and eased the throat lead a bit more and repolished.
The next 5 shots looked a lot better

And it passed the Anschutz test

I still have to test a variety of pellets at different velocities to see how fussy this barrel is. ( I'm guessing it wont be) but I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeing here with a randomly selected pellet.

Good idea on the "vee".... Why would the breech need changing?....

Bob is obviously not trying to reply using his phone...much faster...with bigger keys. Lol

It's all over the board Al.
Walther has 3 at 9, 12 and 3 oclock
Steyr has 3 across the 12 oclock position
FWB has 6 in rows of three at 3 and 9 oclock
I think they need that rigidity to ensure the barrel doesn't touch the tube it floats inside.
I do like that idea Bob of arranging 2 rows at at 120deg. Set into a shallow radius groove that would be rock solid. Then completely float the remainder of the barrel.

I was considering this option as well for the next build. What I was pondering is if a shallow V shape loading platform, that was the whole width of the receiver opening, might be a lot easier to load. A pellet would tend to roll to the bottom of the V? Thoughts?
But it would involve making a breech that had about an inch more tenon socket.
