I don't want to hi jack your thread , but seeing as it was you who asked....it's nothing special, just a skeleton version of Bob's 2260 HPA (which I used as a guide), and still a work in progress. My first HPA build where I did all the work myself - with my limited tools! (valve, HPA setup, shroud, etc...). Figured if I was going to learn how to do it right, I may as well learn from one of the best. Hope you don't mind, Bob! Not as hot as Bob's, though - 14.3 gr Benji HP @ 957 fps, 16 gr Polymag @ 930 fps.

...And before anybody gets excited about the shroud - it's purely cosmetic (no baffles or such). Unfortunately, it still sounds like a .22 lr... Now, if you want to see some real quality craftmanship, check out the fancy butt pad!

The reason for the longer socket is I've never been totally happy with the barrel stability. Another inch would improve this dramatically and give a longer fulcrum for 2 set screws

I just did some quick trig to get an idea of what the impact of a single set screw screw could be.

If side a is 0.001" (this is the clearance between the breech socket and the tenon
And side b is 1.25" (the length of the breech socket
And it's held together by a single grub screw which provides a pivot

Then the side a magnified to 100 yards becomes 2.88 inches

However in reality they are much looser than 0.001. In fact I have 0.006" of shims stuffed in one
    That 0.006 becomes 17.25" at 100 yds

    Holy cow
