    Lead Ball Ammo

Last night I placed an order with ScopesAndAmmo.com and included some Gammo lead balls. I understand that they are recommended for use only in pellet aiguns but why? Is it because of the rifled barrel of pellet airguns or has it to do with the specific size of the lead balls? Maybe they're just a bit larger than 4.5 mm or .177 cal and would jam up inside of a smooth barrel?

It is Gamo that recommends this- but it likely has more to do with the BB magazines they would be fed into- rotating bb magazines tend to be magnetic to hold the BBs in place - lead balls are not going to be held by magnets- so someone trying to load them into their rotating magazine is going to become awfully frustrated and blame the lead balls (which is not quite right, but sort-of if there is no warning).
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

When I receive them I'll let you know how they fly Eric.

By the way I've noticed some airguns state they will shoot both BB's and pellets. I assume these airguns have a smooth bore not a rifled bore. Would you agree?

If a gun states it will shoot both, 95% of the time it is a smooth-bore product. The other 5% the bore will be smooth soon enough if BBs are shot through it...
