    Ahhh....the Crosman 160. Okay...

    I know there are a lot of "clones" out there, various manufacturers with very similar models. I'll start looking for the elusive model 160.

    As for dismantling an airgun before shooting....I've never considered doing it. Maybe I'm naive to expect a product to "work right out of the box".

    The problem you are going to have is finding a Crosman 160 in good shape at something near the price of a QB- then when something breaks getting parts for it.

    Not trying to talk you out of it- but in my view, older guns, good or bad, shouldn't be relied upon if a full set of service parts is not readily available.

    And unless a 160 you find has been re-sealed recently- you'll be taking it apart too, so what was gained?

    Also, the '160' copy is the plain-jane QB78, there is the QB78 Deluxe, and while the AR might share the same basic mechanics, it is not a "copy" of the 160 in any way beyond that (it is in fact a conglomeration of "copies" from Crosman and FWB target rifles).
    I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

    LOL...funny you should say that Sean. I have a 1995 YJ Jeep that needs a new engine computer.
    The dealership says that it will cost me over $700
    I told the guy I could buy a whole YJ for that much!

    I would take the computer apart and look around for a
    leaky resistor or a burnt spot on the board .....or take it to a shop that does that kind of stuff.....(i fixed 3 tracker computers this way )

    P.S get a Q.B you will love it !

    The 160's definitely the original gun, but the one pictured doesn't have the dovetail scope mount queried in the original post...

    Okay, I have another question. If I wished to convert one of these air rifles to PCP which is easier/cheaper?

    They (QB78, AR 2078, Crosman 160) are all virtually identical, so no difference to convert to HPA.... The QB79 is easier because you can screw a regulated tank right onto it with no other changes....

    Okay, I've found the Shanghai Air Gun (SAG) factory website for the QB78D;
    http://www.airrifle-china.com/produc...100449435.html

    I'm thinking of buying one of these scope mounts for it when I order the gun;
    http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/...ing-rail-p-246

    If I wanted to convert the rifle from CO2 what will I need to order? Would an extended bolt probe be worth the investment?
