durability of cheap der dot scope

Friend gave a . i77 telly air rifle and i figure out how to put cheap red dot hawk scope on it. will this scope last on a not to power full springer. What i like about this gun is that its very quite for in town. I have purple martin house and a pellet gun is a must for sparrows It not along range gun but dose the trick for short rang. I know for powerful spring cheap scopes don't last .My 2240 sounds like cannon compared to this telly. thanks ted

Hawke scopes are a crap-shoot, some work well behind springers, others not-so-well. Probably be fine on a Telly in any event...
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

I must be missing something here, why put a Red Dot on a rifle? Are the iron sights missing because a Red Dot isn't much better than a Red Dot.
I have no experience with air rifles and Red Dots but if the telly isn't a PAL then it should be okay. I'd worry about any scope/Red Dot on a PAL rated springer air rifle.

Actually- let's make sure we are all on the same page here:

Is the scope in question a telescopic scope" with a red dot reticle, or a "red dot sight" as in a no-magnification unit? "Red dot scope" is confusing as a term.
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

Thanks for the correction Eric. I'm guilty of not focusing my bi-focal glasses properly on the original post

May not be a correction- I read it one way, you another- which is pretty likely, given the wording. Perhaps the OP could clarify?

    hi
The scope in question is is a red dot sight with no magnification. In regard to the question why a scope on this old thing? When you get to the age of tri focal glasses and haven't shot iron sights for 50 yr's you will know:
