    Pellet skirt straightening?

Had a small load of "test" pellets come in yesterday. Seems 'customs' decided to open the box, open a tin of pellets, drop them all over he!! and creation, then dump everything loosely back into the box which they then did not re-pack- result? A couple hundred crushed skirt pellets- and soon to be a CBSA supervisor at LBP airport getting an earful.

Normally I would only be slightly upset by this- but these pellets came from Argentina and all the units of one type were damaged- so in order to test them I need a good way to straighten out the skirts and I don't think pushing them through a rifled barrel is the best idea (maybe a smoothbore barrel would work better...).

Anyone ever figure out a good way to re-form pellet skirts?
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

If they are like most pellets, the skirt is larger than the head by several thou.... so pushing them through something that fits the head (like a barrel) will shrink the skirts....

You could try a little swage block affair

Drill a hole ID to the head OD to the depth of the pellet
Flare the hole to match angle and rear OD of skirt

Cut an angle on an 3/16 rod to match the angle of the skirt ID

Then you would drop a pellet into the hole of the swage block and form the pellet skirt to the flare with the swage bar

..Best I can come up with

I ordered a few of these in from England, with my last Webley shipment. They work pretty good. Pellet is pushed through the centre and into your palm to resize and straighten . Can then be placed individually in their own storage spot for later use. As you can see though, only good for .177

That might do it- at least for most of the damaged pellets...
