In government land, the best thing I think people could have hoped for was lack of use of a system that is never updated until someday, many years from now, it gets pulled offline, orphaned and eventually forgotten about...

The registry always made me curious as to what was its purpose. So... we had to register all our firearms by a certain date or pass them in to be destroyed. After a given amount of time anyone who had any firearms who wished not to be in possession of them any longer could participate in an amnesty and if I am not mistaken would receive a gift for having the unwanted firearms collected for destruction.
