If you don't live on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

Not done just yet- the Governor In Council must set a "Coming Into Force" date, which could be next week, or next year. Until this date is established and reached, it's still "business as usual" in the meantime...
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...

Royal Ascent happened today.... and Quebec promptly had an Injuction issued to block destruction of the records in the database.... at least the Quebec ones.... According to the RCMP website, the registration of long guns is still a requirement in Quebec ONLY....

Excellent News, Bob. An end to a truly monumental waste of time and money

    Cheers

I'm not sure how the RCMP can jump ahead of the appropriate legal process (Governor in Council setting a Coming Into Force date)- but I guess due to the utter pointlessness of things, they decided not to waste time/resources on it any longer...

Interesting thing was the initial RCMP update said that because of the Quebec situation, firearms in all provinces still needed to be registered. Later changed it to what the rsterne link reads. Only the province of Quebec needs to register firearm sales. Think we need to keep checking the RCMP site to see that they are happy with their second update version. And don't change it again.

I wonder if the shooters from Quebec could file a suit against the Provincial Gmt as they are discriminating against their provincial residents
