Hopefully you can sort something out with them Eric! I have not installed a vortek kit in a gun yet but have heard many positive things about them from several members of the airgun community.

Yes it is a Diana Model 48 t01 about 20-25 years old. In the US everyone calls them RWS Model 48 (RWS imports them I guess from Diana). It was imported into Canada by Ruko and sold by lebaron.
I already e-mailed Tom, he is the expert and designed the kit. I'm sure he will have a solution. I was shaking my head.... as the site does indicate "♦No modification needed!♦" http://vortekproducts.com/ourstore/Tuning-Kits
I know JM mentioned some Diana Model 48's needed a slightly shorter spring by about a coil. I guess my gun is one of them...
I actaulil inquired on the site as to waht to expect and was told 18-20 ft/lbs i'm at 17.69 ft/ibs... so after breaking in... I expect to gain some fps... the GSI gained about 25-30 fps so that puts me in line power wise with the low end of what Tom G. said.
I don't feel right leaving it to Eric to fix since I purchased wrongly from the Vortec site instead of Eric... If I would have known might have saved me some also.
Right now I'm not unhappy... but I don't notice much difference than the GSI. Its different.... not better not worst. But my FPS is back to normal at least.

Bruce

I put a James Maccari spring in my 177 cal 48 Diana 20 years ago the factory spring would break seemed like every month over sprung ,Gun still works fine ..........
The kits I personally installed worked fine/as expected (Diana 350, Diana 34)- but I never did get around to putting a kit in the Model 52 I have laying about. Maybe I should get to this sooner, rather than later, to see what happens...
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...
Just got an e-mail. Vortek is sending me a new kit. I guess there is something specific so some T01's so they need to machine a different kit to fit correctly. Maybe if you have a t05/t06 it will work? Maybe that is what the problem is they are not generic for all guns?
They are fixing things and taking care of it. Just means I have to wait :(

I got a new Vortek kit in the mail tonight. Took about 15 minutes and it was installed.
The install was much easier. Based on comparing the 2 kits side by side. The Diana Model 48 T01 kit is different than the to5/t06. I was over on the Dianawerk collective forum and there is a definite difference in the length of the latch on the T01 verse the t05/t06 piston. As a result the T01 compresses the spring a bit more and this resulted in the binding and failure to cock with the t05/t06 unit was installed.
The recoil is not as harsh either as the original kit.
I did get a peak of 990 FPS with beeman crow magnums but velocities settled into about 970 after a couple shots. I expect this was due to some of the oil int he molly used on the piston seal dieseled slightly. Cpls are doing about 1050 FPS so I definitely need heavier pellets now.

I did a little playing tonight
Did some 5 shot strings to see were things were. Really need 10-20 shots strings but did not have the time.
I shoot the strings one after the other.
