    AR2078 Max Stock Pressure?

    Hi Guys,

I am getting ready to compare the effects of different gases on velocity etc.
I am going to use an Argon C25 mix, Helium and N2/air in a un-modded AR2078.

So I need to know what the max pressure a AR2078 will shoot on before locking up the valve?
I was thinking that 1000psi would be safe?

Anything above 1600 will start giving you grief with valve lock.

1500 is about as far as anyone recommends without checking to see if the stop block is secure and butted up against the valve. And even having said that I wouldn't trust just the single little valve retaining screw made of butter metal to go to 1500psi.

If the stop block is tight against the valve there is a lot more to hold it. While your in there be sure to clean everything and relube with silicone grease. combustible oils and HPA can be a dangerous mix

Everything Sean said, plus if you don't shim the hammer spring you will find that the velocity will start to drop off over about 1200-1300 psi depending on your individual gun and spring.... The stock spring can be made to work at higher pressures (by shimming or with an RVA), but since you are effectively limited to about 1500-1600 psi anyway structurally you may not have to shim it to obtain a satisfactory bell-curve.... If you are using a regulated HPA tank, make SURE you protect the gun with a 1.8K burst disc so that in the even of a regulator failure the gun will never see over 1800 psi.... That is VERY important from a safety point of view....

    Thanks Guys,

I don't plan on doing anything to the gun except to break it in a bit since it is a virgin.
So then when the last of my adapter fittings for the tank regulator and my indoor
light fixture for the chrony get here I'll be able to compare gasses.
Will limit to 1200psi. max. as my Argon C25 tank is down to 1400psi. or so.
