    Sealant

I thought I was loosing my mind(more of it) when I would walk by my QB78 PCP and the end cap was on the floor beside it. I always put it on after a fill, how was it falling off? I caught it last night, I heard a pop and something fall on the floor so I launched an investigation only to see it slowly rise, then pop! I have a leak through the threads of the male Quick-Disconnect fitting and am wondering if anyone knows if loctite thread sealant is a good choice for this?

I use the loctite hydraulic sealant on small fittings.

    You've done a bubble test?

Is that the loctite blue? Would blue be good enough to use in this case, and what about plumbers thread tape?

Plumber tape will work well if there are no irregularities. I prefer gas fitters tape.

The loctite hydraulic sealant 569 is designed for high pressure on small fittings. It will fill irregularities but is not instant use like tape.

    Poil

Just so that we don't send someone on a wild goose chase. I would just like to clarify the product you are speaking of.

242 Loctite that you have mentioned is standard blue medium strength threadlocker we all know and love.

Can you double check your bottle of red HVAC sealant

Loctite packaging is a pain- putting blue loctite in a red bottle- just to be funny I think. Why color code the sealant if they don't match the packaging to it (or maybe put everything in clear bottles/tubes so the substance can be seen from the outside)...
I'd say I care- but I'd probably be lying...
