A Marmot Kind of Day
Went gopher hunting today, got about a dozen or so.... but I took along my .25 cal 2260 HPA conversion to try it out on the Yellow-Bellied Marmots that are digging up the ranch.... Compared to the .22 cal I use on the gophers, it is devastating on the larger critters.... I got five adults and three kits.... the kits are larger than the Columbia Ground Squirrels I've been shooting.... and the adults are about 2 feet long with tail....

The .22 is plenty of power to kill the adults, but they always seem to make their burrow.... On the other hand, a headshot with the .25 cal pretty much anchors them, knocking them head over heels.... The big one in the photo of the gun weighed about 10-15 lbs.... The rifle puts out about 46 FPE.... and still delivers 31-32 FPE at 50-55 yards which is the range I was shooting at.... I'm VERY pleased with my first hunt with the .25 cal....

We all need to move near Bob to get in some shooting!
I'm jealous...

Really nice Bob
That 25 looks like it's working great. Is that the LW Polytwist?

No, it's a simple TJs .25 Auto liner.... I have a 12mm OD LW standard .25 for it, however.... just no time to try it....
