Made some pellet traps.
A fellow..j.krug...posted a pellet trap he had made, a modified snail trap which was quite nicely done. This motivated me to get off me arse  and practice my limited welding skills a bit. These turned out pretty good IMO...made from 3/16" steel plate and heavy "auger" tube, they have been tested with .22 LR @ 20yards with complete success...spent lead simply drops out the back...need to visit the dollarama for a cookie sheet or two and round up a couple milk crates to set them on. Nice and portable. :D
Will still take them off the truck before using them

HI Al....
Does the upper plate extend past the top of the lower one, or is there an actual open slot between them?.... One design I saw the pellet had to hit either the upper plate (deflecting down) or the lower plate (deflecting up and then hitting the upper plate) before entering the slot.... Seemed like a good design....

Hi Bob,
There's a slot about 1/2" tall at the back. The slug comes through the slot after having hit on the angled plate,(did not see any "bottom/top" hits as you describe, but was expecting them...only single hits were observed) hits the rear tube half which is at the top of its arc...if that makes any sense...and follows the curve of the tube around then "jumps" the gap between the tubes and hits the forward half tube beginning an upward arc, follows this around and back on to the rear half...and so on...until "what's left" simply drops to the bottom and falls out. Most of the lead fired in was found sitting on the bottom edge of the forward tube, the rest was within an inch or so of being on that edge.

So what you're saying is that the pellet travels 'round and 'round until it runs out of steam.... NEAT design !!!

Looks great Al
How about a cutaway diagram? Hmmmmm
Pretty please

Is there an access port to clean out the lead, or is that flap on the bottom in front of a hole and the pellets drop out on their own?
-
Will draw something up tonight...pretty straight forward.
Eric, no flaps, a piece of 6"dia tube is cut lengthwise into two halves. One welded to the upper angled plate, the other below the lower angled plate.
Like this... () where the first one is lower than the second one...spent lead drops out on its own.
Could do it like this fellow as well...his drops the lead into a can for easy collection.
