OK, you QB Gurus.... the standard setup is for the Valve O-ring to be tightened into the tube by snugging the two halves of the valve up once installed.... Any reason you couldn't use a standard 70D O-ring in the groove made between the two valve halves, adjusted for a bit of "squish", and then slid into place like the valve in a Disco?.... I'm talking HPA here, not CO2....

I haven't had much success with a standard "O"-ring in there. My guess is that they roll against the threads, or over the edge of the front valve half- mine are always getting cut. The white replacements that Eric has are very good- they seem a lot harder than a standard rubber "O"-ring...

I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. In fact you don't even need preload, a simple 0 fit would suffice. Pressure lifts the Oring up and tries to extrude out through the gap.
An excessive gap size is what causes Orings to fail. 70 shore D will survive at above 3000psi if the gap size is constrained to 0.0015

Those are 90D units- alot harder to "squish" into a tight space- they work OK, but I don't think they would be terribly easy to get around a valve and into the tube. But, as mentioned, a 70D unit would be fine.Quote:
